MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

Steve

My father was a swimming coach and taught me how to swim at the age of three, which turned into lessons for life.

I became a swim instructor at the age of nineteen and knew then this was a career that I was truly passionate about.

In my early twenties I had the privilege of teaching in Hong Kong at the International Swim School for three years.

Upon my return to Australia I spent some time in Tourism before returning to my passion of teaching children how to swim.

I had always dreamt of not only being a swimming instructor that was able to provide lessons for life, but to own my own swim centre, which i was able to turn into reality in 2018.

Since January 2024 I was appointed Swim School Manager after working in  office administration since 2022 at Steve's Swim School

I have been a swim teacher since 2022 and have loved every minute. I am a mother of 3 children and have been taking them to swimming lessons since they were 6 months old. I teach water orientation all the way through to adults, and also teach aqua aerobic classes for fun.

I love watching a child learn these life skills and knowing that I helped achieve that skill.

I have been a teacher since 2017 and enjoy it very much. I am a mother of four children who all love swimming. I teach children from 6 months old through to our advanced classes. I find it very rewarding when a child perfects a stroke or graduates up to the next level. I look forward to teaching your child.

I have been a teacher for water orientation and learn to swim since 2018 and find it to be a rewarding industry to be apart of. Having a young boy of my own I understand how important a life skill like swimming is to a child.

I endeavor to share my knowledge and experience to teach children how to be safe in and around water, gain confidence and learn swimming skills, all while promoting a fun environment.

I have been working at Steve’s Swim School since October 2023. I work both in the office and teaching all age groups.  I am a mother of two and love working with children and seeing them advance in their swimming skills.  Swimming is definitely a lesson for life and water safety is so important to everyone.

My passion for swimming comes from watching my children learn a life skill that has given them confidence and may save their life one day.

Having a home near the sea and a shack at the lakes, it  was important for them to know how to be safe around all bodies of water and it has been a big priority for us as a family for them to have swimming skills so they are safe. I look forward to being a part of your child's swim journey too as they learn the same skills. You will see me in the pool as an instructor and also doing some work in the office.

Sharyn

Hello, let me introduce myself.  I grew up at 7 mile Beach through my later teens, then moved to our current home in Sandford in my late 20's, so I have always lived close to the water, and learnt to swim at an early age.

Our sons followed in their dads footsteps, learning to surf when they were young.  Part of their preparation for this pursuit was being able to swim well.  I now have a granddaughter who started learning to swim at six months of age.

I believe water orientation should begin in infancy and every child should learn to swim for safety reasons, as well as for strong fitness, good health and having fun.

I was introduced to Steve's Swim School through casual adult swimming.  I swim several mornings each week.  having a background in teaching, from infants through to adults, and a love of swimming, I started training to be a swim teacher in January 2025.  I find it so rewarding being involved in progressing children from baby water orientation to competent swimmers.

I am beyond excited to bring my love for swimming and water safety down to Tassie! Growing up in Queensland I joined surf lifesaving at just five years old. That lifelong background, combined with my current studies in Paramedicine, has shown me firsthand just how vital water confidence and safety truly are. Through years of competitive pool swimming and surf sports I have developed a strong passion for teaching these lifelong skills to others. Prior to moving down to Tassie, I coached the Under 6 Nippers at my local surf club in QLD, helping to build confidence in the surf while teaching essential beach and water safety skills from a young age. I strive to create a fun, safe, and supportive environment where children can grow their confidence and enjoyment in the water!

Tahlia

Hi my name is Tahlia.  I started working at Steve's Swim School because of my love for swimming and being around and in the water has always been apart of me.  I have done water polo, interschools and state carnivals as well as swimming just for fun.  I have also scuba dived and in my free time I enjoy reading and driving.  I also do Army Cadets as a Corporal currently and I have done 4 laps of a 50m pool in my heavy uniform and gear.  It brings me so much joy to now be able to teach younger kids life saving swimming skills just like how I learnt when I was their age.
